Nikki Glazer further solidified her status as Hollywood’s go-to awards show host at the Time 100 Gala on Thursday night, taking playful jabs at a wide range of creators who have been honored as some of the world’s most influential people. Glazer’s opening monologue criticized Mr. Beast’s fan base, Noah Kahan for looking like a weed dealer at a Dave Matthews concert, and Victoria Beckham for never smiling.
“This event is special not only because of the scope of the award winners,” she told the audience. “This is also the only ceremony this year where the ‘KPop Demon Hunter’ girls won’t be singing ‘Golden.’ We tried to book them, but they ended up headlining the Boise Boat Show.”
Glazer, a Time 100 winner himself, won comedy gold in 2024 for his outstanding performance in The Roast of Tom Brady. Since then, she’s used that momentum to host back-to-back Golden Globe Awards in 2025 and 2026 (and is expected to return in 2027). Her viral jab criticizing Leonardo DiCaprio’s relationship history (and love for pasta) at the 2026 Globe Awards is still making headlines following her monologue in January, after she revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that the One Battle After Another star sent her “three pasta baskets as a ‘thank you’.”
“I wasn’t scrolling too much because the special was coming out,” Glaser told Variety on the Time 100 red carpet. “When I’m feeling down about something, I try to avoid people’s opinions. But I just opened my phone and saw[Pasta Gratitude Basket]like the first three posts. I was like, ‘Ah!'” I have to say it’s kind of fun to see my face next to Leo’s in places like Variety and US Weekly. ”
Glaser said it’s a tradition for everyone he roasts to send flowers to “well done people.” She said that apart from a few text messages, DiCaprio was the only one who sent her gifts.
“What inspired me to send flowers was the realization that a lot of my success at that time was because of their reaction. They were calm about being called out and teased,” Glaser explained. “It’s not easy to be on the receiving end of that. They could have easily thought, ‘I don’t like that joke.'” And they didn’t. I just wanted to say thank you and encourage them to do that at every awards ceremony. Because it really helps the organizers. ”
Glazer first told Variety’s Marc Malkin that he would not be appearing on Netflix’s live roast hosted by Kevin Hart because he “could get away with a short joke,” but said he would attend the DiCaprio roast — even though he doesn’t think DiCaprio should appear.
“Oh, I don’t think he should do any of those things. He doesn’t need to,” Glaser explained. “I mean, that would be great and I’d love to do it, but it’s not. He should do it…but he shouldn’t do it. If I were someone in his camp, I’d say, ‘Don’t ever do that.'” Maybe he was donating[the proceeds]to climate change or something. I could see him doing that. But for sure, that’s something I definitely want to sign up for. ”
