On April 23, Beyoncé posted an Instagram post celebrating the 10th anniversary of “Lemonade.” In one image, Beyoncé held up a bottle of Sir Davis Whiskey and three lemons. Fans interpreted the three lemons as hinting at the release of her next album, Act III.
Beyoncé took to Instagram on April 23 to acknowledge a major career milestone: her 2016 album Lemonade was released 10 years ago. To celebrate the anniversary, the singer shared a series of photos, including one that may hint at her next project.
In Carousel’s first image, Beyoncé posed on the beach wearing a beige long-sleeved jumpsuit cinched at the waist with a brown leather belt. She accessorized with oversized gold hoop earrings and a lush flower crown.
The singer threw her arms in the air, clutching a full bottle of Sir Davis whiskey in one hand and holding up three lemons in the other. In the comments section of the post, fans speculated that Lemon was hinting at his next album, Act III. The project does not yet have a release date or official title.
On the merry-go-round, Beyoncé posted a photo of herself walking into the crystal clear blue waters of the beach, as well as a photo of herself enjoying a special sunset dinner. “Cheers to our 10th anniversary! With love and deep gratitude 🙏🏽🍋🐝,” he captioned his Instagram.
After its release, Lemonade became Beyoncé’s sixth consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. The singles “Formation”, “Sorry”, “Hold Up”, “Freedom”, and “All Night” peaked at No. 10, No. 11, No. 13, No. 35, and No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively.
Beyoncé is currently releasing an album trilogy. She dropped her first part in Renaissance (Act 1) in 2022. Cowboy Carter (Act II) was released in 2024, but she revealed that Renaissance was originally intended to be the second album in the trilogy.
“This album has been over five years in the making,” she said of Cowboy Carter in a Parkwood Entertainment press release following the album’s release. “It was really nice to take our time and work through it. We were originally going to put ‘Cowboy Carter’ out first, but the world became too heavy with the pandemic. We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance, but we had to trust in God’s timing.”
“My process is usually that I have to experiment,” Beyoncé added. “I enjoy being open and free to express all aspects of what I like, so I worked on a lot of songs. I probably recorded 100 songs. Once that’s done, I can put the puzzle together and recognize coherence and common themes to create a solid body of work.”
“I think people will be surprised because I don’t think this music is what everyone expects, but it’s the best music I’ve ever made,” she concluded.
