“The Devil” is coming to Netflix!
Following Anna Wintour, Oscar-winning documentary maker Fisher Stevens is joining the streamer in a new project. Page Six has revealed that it delves into the world of Vogue and the lead-up to the biggest night on New York City’s celebrity calendar, the Met Gala.
Stevens, who directed David Beckham’s hit Netflix documentary series Beckham, has been following the 76-year-old fashion mogul for the past few months and was even with her at Paris Fashion Week in March.
The doc, co-directed by Stevens’ partner Alexis Bloom, will also explore Vogue’s global reach and reach.
Stevens, 62, won an Oscar in 2009 for the documentary The Cove and an Emmy in 2024 for Beckham, both of which aired on Netflix.
And although the deal hasn’t been fully finalized, the Vogue project is also reportedly set to land on the streamer.
While working with the Beckhams, Wintour met Stevens, who had a recurring role as Hugo on Succession, and they became good friends.
“Will we finally meet the real Anna?” said a source. “Fisher is very good at getting people to open up.”
Stevens recalled a time when David and his wife Victoria were going through some tough times in 2003 when allegations of an affair with his assistant Rebecca Luce came to light, bringing David, 50, to tears on camera.
“Every time I woke up, it felt like something was different, and it felt like we were drowning instead of losing each other,” David said.
A source previously told Page Six: “As[Winter]takes on this new global role and takes over Vogue, Fisher will be watching the world from behind the scenes.”
Wintour handed over the reins of Vogue’s day-to-day operations to Chloe Malle last September, but continues to oversee major projects such as the Met Gala as global chief content officer at publisher Condé Nast and global editorial director at Fashion Bible.
Sources say Stevens won’t actually be inside the gala, but will be photographed with Wintour at her arrival and for the ball on Monday, May 3.
In February, she was spotted attending a New York Fashion Week event.
Meanwhile, Wintour has been busy promoting her new film The Devil Wears Prada 2, attending Monday’s Manhattan premiere along with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.
As we revealed, she visited the sequel’s Milan set and ended up appearing in the gag reel, director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna told Amy O’Dell in an interview on the Back Row podcast.
Why isn’t Winter on screen? “That felt too meta for us to have her in the movie,” Frankel said.
