Madonna joined Sabrina Carpenter on stage at Coachella Weekend 2. The pop stars performed some of Madonna’s biggest hits together. They also sang a new song with no name.
On Friday night, Sabrina Carpenter surprised a very excited audience by welcoming pop icon Madonna to the stage for her second weekend at Coachella. The two stars performed two of Madonna’s biggest hits, “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer.”
If that wasn’t exciting enough, they also sang an unnamed song that will likely be featured on Madonna’s next album, Confessions on the Dance Floor: Part II, scheduled for release this July.
“So, 20 years ago today, I performed at Coachella. I was in the dance tent and it was the first time I’d ever performed ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor Part 1’ on an American dancefloor. That was such a thrill for me. You can imagine how thrilling it would be to come back 20 years later wearing the same boots, the same jacket I wore before, the Gucci jacket. So it’s like a full-circle moment. You know what?
Carpenter is a huge fan of Madonna and has performed covers of her songs in the past, particularly during her “Short and Sweet” tour. For his first Coachella set last weekend, Carpenter had a number of special guests, including Susan Sarandon, Samuel L. Jackson, Will Ferrell, and Girl Meets World co-star Corey Fogelmanis. This week, she welcomed actors Geena Davis and Terry Crews.
Before the performance, Carpenter told Perfect magazine’s Marc Jacobs that he was heavily invested in the show.
“This is the most ambitious show I’ve ever done,” she said. “This might be the longest time we’ve ever actually just sat down and talked about the show as we’re crafting it. Most of the time we jump right into physical rehearsals, but this time we started this process about seven months ago. So it’s been a long journey. It’s going to be something very special.”
