Variety magazine exclusively reported that Lee Jun Lee, one of the stars who broke out in “Sinners,” has joined season 3 of “The Last of Us.”
In the HBO Max series, she will play Miriam, a Seraphite and mother of Lev and Yara. As previously announced, Michelle Mao will play Yara and Lev will be played by Killiana Clutter, siblings who cross paths with Abby at key moments as Ellie begins her revenge rampage in Seattle.
She joins a growing ensemble that includes Jason Ritter and Patrick Wilson, as well as Ariella Bearer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord, who were promoted to series regulars after reappearing in season two. They join the previously announced additions of Clea Duvall and Jorge Lendeborg Jr., with the latter taking over the role of Manny. The returning cast includes Kaitlyn Deaver, Bella Ramsey, Isabella Merced, Gabriel Luna, and Jeffrey Wright.
Lee will next be seen in Spider-Noir, co-starring Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage. Prime Video’s live-action Marvel series is set to premiere worldwide on May 27th. She recently received critical acclaim for her performance as Grace Chow in Ryan Coogler’s Oscar-winning vampire drama “Sinners.”
Her previous television credits include Peacock’s “Based on a True Story” and Paramount’s “Evil.”
“The Last of Us” has been renewed for Season 3 in 2025, ahead of Season 2’s debut. The series is based on the hit video game series and is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a fungal infection. Fungal infections transform much of humanity into violent, infectious organisms. The series was co-created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
Druckmann announced his departure before season 3, leaving Mazin as the sole showrunner. Mazin will also serve as the scriptwriter and executive producer.
“The Last of Us” is a co-production between HBO and Sony Pictures Television. Executive producers include Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Kizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells. Produced by PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
“The Last of Us” is scheduled to begin filming this summer.
Mr. Lee is represented by Mr. Gersh, Mr. Authentic, attorneys Carl Austin and Andrew Howard, and Persona Public Relations.
