Shannon Elizabeth is “happier” after splitting from husband Simon Borchert.
The “American Pie” star broke her silence about the divorce after announcing she was joining OnlyFans earlier this week.
“I have been separated since September of last year, and this has been a thoughtful and ongoing process and not something that happened in the last few days,” the actress revealed to Us Weekly on Thursday.
The 52-year-old added: “The meaningful works are already behind me, only the formal ones remain.”
Elizabeth went on to tell the outlet how “really excited” she is about this “new chapter” in her life.
“I feel stronger, clearer and happier than ever before,” she concluded.
Page Six has reached out to Elizabeth’s representatives for comment.
Page Six broke the news on Wednesday that Elizabeth filed for divorce the day before.
“I just got divorced,” an Us source exclusively shared, calling Elizabeth “newly single.”
Meanwhile, a source told People that Elizabeth “wants to be a little more free and wild” after their breakup.
Elizabeth married Borchert in 2021, six years after meeting the conservation expert.
In an interview last April, Elizabeth praised her now estranged husband, calling him her “soulmate.”
“We’re so lucky to have found him because we’re mirror images of each other,” she said at the time. “We want the same things and are aligned with everything we love in the world and everything we love in this universe.”
This is Elizabeth’s second divorce, having previously been married to fellow actor Joseph D. Reitman from 2002 to 2006.
A Celebrity Big Brother alum who lives in South Africa is trying to take control of her narrative by joining OnlyFans.
“I’ve spent my entire career in Hollywood, where other people controlled the outcome of my career. This new chapter is about changing that, showing off a sexier side that no one has ever seen, and getting closer to my fans,” she told People on Wednesday.
In a separate statement to Page Six, Elizabeth said OnlyFans offers “a behind-the-scenes, unfiltered look into[her]life and authentic connections that other platforms don’t allow.”
