Joseph Duggar is reportedly upset after being released on bail following his arrest for child sexual abuse.
The disgraced TV star is “nervous, uncertain and concerned” about his future, his lawyer Albert Sorin told TMZ on Friday.
His lawyer said Duggar, who has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl, had “family support” that kept him “in good spirits.”
He also pointed out that there is a mountain of conflicting evidence, making it difficult for the defense team to know what the truth is.
The former “19 Kids and Counting” star, 31, does not know what evidence prosecutors have against him because his defense team is not allowed to see evidence until prosecutors formally file charges.
But Sauerlein says his defense team and Dugger know who the alleged victim is and support his plea of not guilty.
Joseph (whose brother Josh Duggar is currently in prison for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material) is scheduled to return to court on May 18th.
On Wednesday, Soerlein told The Associated Press that his client was released on $600,000 bail hours after appearing in court in Florida and flown back to Arkansas.
Court documents obtained by news outlets revealed that Judge Brantley Clark prohibited Joseph from having unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
Soline said his “primary goal” was to ensure that Joseph was “treated fairly” because of his celebrity status.
The TLC alum was arrested earlier this month in her home state of Arkansas and then transported to the Bay County Jail in Panama City, Florida, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
The Counting On alum is charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a victim under 12 years of age and lewd and lascivious acts with a person over 18 years of age.
During questioning by a forensic pathologist, the victim told police that she was suspected of being involved in several incidents with Joseph in Panama City Beach during a family vacation in 2020 when she was 9 years old.
She claimed that the man invited her to sit near him on the couch, where he covered her with a blanket and touched her genitals. He also allegedly rubbed her thigh.
The sexual abuse allegations later ceased while on vacation, and he apologized.
Joseph, who has four children with wife Kendra Duggar, allegedly confessed to the victim’s father before his arrest.
Two days later, he was also charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of false imprisonment, unrelated to the sexual abuse charges. His wife (27) was also arrested on similar charges.
Kendra was released later the same day and told Duggar in a tearful phone call that her “baby was taken away from me.”
During a second 20-minute jail summons obtained by Page Six, Kendra also praised the Duggar family for their support, even though multiple family members had criticized her husband on social media.
“Your family is such an amazing support network,” she exclaimed. “They’re very supportive of me. I’m really well taken care of.”
