Sebastian Bach has apologized for ending his relationship with Christina Applegate while she was dating Brad Pitt.
“I was so surprised when it all clicked,” the Skid Row frontman said of Applegate’s recent memoir confession about ditching Brad Pitt to hang out with the rocker at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards.
“I’ve met a lot of girls being single while touring and being in a band. If I hurt her or hurt anyone, I apologize,” he added in a statement published by Billboard on Friday.
“When you’re young, you get thrown into the vortex of rock’n’roll and you meet a lot of people. You better hold on tight,” he explained.
“I feel like I’m on a roller coaster… It’s so long ago now. If I hurt anyone, I apologize.”
Representatives for Mr. Pitt and Mr. Applegate did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment Friday evening.
Applegate, 54, confesses in her new memoir, Sad Eyes, that she took Pitt to an awards show that year and realized she had a crush on the “Youth Gone Wild” singer, 57.
“I spent all night staring at Bach, the big, long-haired man who was the frontman of Skid Row at the time,” the “Married with Children” star wrote in the book, published earlier this month.
“I hate to say it this way, but at the time Brad was just starting out as an actor and had yet to become the Brad Pitt that many people dream of becoming.”
Applegate, who was only 17 at the time, recalled that she impulsively “left the show with Sebastian Bach” after the show ended because “for the first time I felt so powerful and confident.”
“Then things got even worse. Brad ended up driving my mom home in a grumpy mood,” she wrote. “Apparently, at a gas station along the way, Brad almost got into a fight with some gang members and was understandably very furious with me afterwards.”
The 62-year-old F1 actor and her girlfriend “didn’t speak” for “years” after the incident, but she regretted that decision when she found out he was in a relationship and they had a one-year-old child.
“Ultimately, we both agreed that we were kids,” she wrote of Pitt, adding, “He deserved better.”
In the memoir, she also refers to herself as “the kid who abandoned[Pitt]for the lead singer of Skid Row,” and quipped that the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” star is “now Brad Pitt and Sebastian Bach…well, I think he still has long hair.”
The Anchorman actress also recalled in her memoir that two of Pitt’s “movie star girlfriends” later asked her, “Is it true that I was the girl who left Brad at the MTV Video Music Awards? Brad apparently told them both separately that he was still mad at me.”
She married Jonathan Scheck in 2001. After their split in 2005, she married Dutch musician Martin Lenoble in 2013. They currently have a 15-year-old daughter, Sadie.
Meanwhile, Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005, and then Angelina Jolie, with whom he had six children.
The former power couple broke up in 2016. After eight years of controversy, the divorce was settled in December 2024, and he is now dating Ines de Ramon.
As for Bach, the rocker has three children with ex Maria Aquinard. He married Suzanne Le in 2015.
