Jennifer Jason Leigh has joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming thriller “Bishop” for Prime Video. Lee will play Gillian Graves, the sister of Lincoln Graves, played by John Malkovich, and the aunt of main character Bishop Graves (Joel Kinnaman).
“Bishop” was released on Prime Video last September. The series, an original idea from co-creators Little Marvin (Them) and Tony Saltzman (Dexter: Resurrection), centers on Bishop, who is described as “intelligent and battle-scarred,” as he tests all of his skills on the hunt for an elusive killer targeting San Francisco’s wealthy. As this increasingly emboldened murderer gains a cult following among the city’s helpless people, Bishop becomes convinced that these murders can be traced back to his father, Lincoln Graves, the most powerful figure in science fiction. ”
Leigh is best known for her roles in The Hateful Eight (for which she was nominated for an Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe Award) and in Season 5 of FX’s Fargo, where she received critical acclaim as wealthy Lorraine Ryan.
Lee’s other credits include Anniversary Party (which he co-wrote and co-directed), the Netflix series “Atypical,” Netflix’s “Woman In The Window” with Julianne Moore and Amy Adams, the Apple TV+ limited series “Lisey’s Story,” and the TV version of “Patrick Melrose” with Benedict Cumberbatch. “White Boy Rick” starring Matthew McConaughey.
Little Marvin, who has an overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, will serve as showrunner in addition to co-creator and executive producer, with Saltzman also serving as co-creator and EP. Roy Lee will also serve as an executive producer in addition to writing the screenplay, similar to Vertigo’s Miri Yun. The film will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, which has an overall contract with Little Marvin.
Lee is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
