Lil Nas X went to court to request diversion after being arrested by police in August. He is accused of punching a police officer in the face.
On Thursday, attorneys for the “Rodeo” coroner asked a Los Angeles judge to postpone the case so they can file a motion to move the case to an unspecified diversion program, according to Rolling Stone.
It’s unclear what kind of program lawyers will seek, but the request typically leads defendants to seek treatment to avoid a conviction.
Lil Nas X, real name Montero Hill, 26, will be back in court on April 6th.
“All I wanted to say is to the fans: I love you so much and I miss you and I’m so grateful for your support and I can’t wait to hug you guys again,” the hitmaker said outside the courthouse after Thursday’s hearing.
“Everyone, have a nice day.”

At the time, officers approached the “Old Town Road” singer after receiving a report of a “naked man walking down the street.”
One video showed him walking around in white underwear and cowboy boots, while another video showed him later removing his clothes to reveal his tight white skin.
NBC reports that Lil Nas X punched a police officer twice in the face that night.
Page Six has learned that the hitmaker was “taken into custody” and charged with four felonies, including assaulting a police officer with bodily injury.
He was also “transported to a local hospital for possible overdose.”
Lil Nas X, who was arrested on Friday, remained in jail until his first court hearing the following Monday. He pleaded not guilty and posted $75,000 bail.
The “Industry Baby” singer expressed remorse during his time in prison, telling his father Robert Stafford to share an emotional message with his fans.
“When I visited him (in prison), he asked me, ‘Please tell everyone I’m sorry for seeing me like that,'” the chief said, explaining that his son was weak.
“Even in that moment, he was apologizing to people for what he was going through.”
