Hearst Media Production Group, which provides educational and informational programming to broadcast networks, their affiliates and independent stations, has promoted Brian Curb to president.
Curb will succeed Frank Biancuzzo, who is retiring this summer after a career spanning more than 40 years. Mr. Curb most recently served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Educational and Informational Programming for Hearst Media Production Group.
Michael J. Hayes, president of Hearst Television, which is overseen by HMPG, announced the promotion Thursday.
“Brian has nurtured and grown the success of HMPG’s education and information programs for more than a decade,” Hayes said. “His deep understanding of the evolving independent production market, track record across network programming, and familiarity with Hearst Television make him uniquely qualified to continue the foundation laid by Frank.”
HMPG was formed in 2021 after Hearst acquired Litton Entertainment. Mr. Curb previously served as chief creative officer at Litton, and has been in his latest role since 2022. Curb has executive produced more than 40 series and is a four-time Emmy Award winner (and has been nominated 20 times). Mr. Curb’s duties as executive vice president included program development and production, business standards and practices, and sales and marketing.
Most recently, earlier this week, Curve and HMPG announced a new refurbished series for ABC stations, Home for Good. He was involved in the revival of “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” and brought the Harlem Globetrotters back to television.
“As HMPG has grown, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Brian and have seen firsthand the vision, passion and leadership he brings to every endeavor,” said Mr. Biancuzzo. “He has helped shape the culture and growth of our organization and drive its success.”
Curb joined Litton in 2018. Prior to that, he founded MTO Productions, a television and video production company based in Burbank. His career includes work as a director and editor on over 100 episodes of television, national commercials and major titles.
HMPG creates fare for linear, streaming, digital and social media platforms for domestic and international distribution in 100 countries. In addition to “Weekend Adventures” on ABC stations, the weekly education/information (E/I) programming block includes “CBS WKND” on CBS, “The More You Know” on NBC, “One Magnificent Morning” on the CW, “Mi Telemundo” on Telemundo, and “Go Time” on independent stations. We also produce FAST channels Xplore, The Jack Hanna Channel, Rovr Pets, and Lucky Dog Channel.
