The Family Guy spinoff series Stewie has been ordered by Fox for two seasons.
The new animated series aims to premiere on FOX during the 2027-2028 season, with next-day streaming on Hulu and international streaming on Disney+.
The official synopsis for “Stewie” reads: “After graduating from his old kindergarten, Stewie is enrolled in a new kindergarten that is not necessarily the best. There’s a 75-year-old class turtle who has half-baked theories about the subject. Stewie is miserable, the other kids are miserable, even the turtles are miserable… until Stewie starts developing his own kindergarten.” A collection of trusted devices that can take you anywhere through time and space, turning a boring school day into a crazy, surreal adventure. ”
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will provide the voice of Stewie in the upcoming spinoff, and will also serve as executive producer with Fuzzy Door Productions. The series was created by MacFarlane and Kirker Butler, who serve as executive producers along with Kara Vallow. Butler will serve as showrunner.
“I want to thank Fox for this wonderful opportunity and I’m excited to begin pretending to work closely with them on the show,” MacFarlane said in a statement.
Butler added, “I’m honored and humbled that Seth, 20th Television Animation, and Fox have trusted me with one of the most iconic animated characters in television history. I’ve known Seth for over 20 years and worked together on six projects, and I hope this is the first time he finally remembers my name.”
The order follows the premiere of “Family Guy” season 24 and the milestone 450th episode, which aired in February of this year. “Stewie” is the 20th TV animation production.
Deadline first reported the “Stewie” series order.
