The woman accused of shooting Rihanna at her Beverly Hills, Calif., home while the singer was inside has been formally charged with attempted murder and could face a life sentence.
Ivanna Ortiz appeared in Los Angeles County Court on Tuesday for her arraignment and plea hearing, court documents show.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, she was sentenced to a number of additional charges, including nine counts of assault with a firearm, two counts of shooting into a dwelling, and one count of shooting into a motor vehicle.
The 35-year-old appeared in court on Tuesday wearing a blue jumpsuit and had her hair styled into two blonde braids for the court appearance, the California Post reported.
The alleged gunman did not make a statement during the brief hearing. Her arraignment date is set for March 26.
After the hearing, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said Ortiz could face life in prison given the charges.
Ortiz is currently being held on $1.8 million bail, significantly reduced from his original bail of $10.225 million, and has been ordered to avoid contact with the “Work” hitmaker and partner A$AP Rocky.
Tuesday’s sighting marks Ortiz’s first public appearance since his arrest.
As previously reported, Ortiz was arrested on Sunday on attempted murder charges after he allegedly fired 10 shots with an AR-15 style rifle at his home in California.
Rihanna lives in the mansion with A$AP Rocky and their three children: RZA, 3, Riot Rhodes, 2, and 5-month-old Rocky Irish Meyers.
The shooting reportedly ended in broad daylight around 1:21 p.m.
Photos taken at the nine-time Grammy Award winner’s home showed a bullet hitting the singer’s front security gate before the gunman ultimately crashed into an Airstream trailer parked in the couple’s driveway.
At a press conference after Ortiz’s hearing, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hockman told reporters that Rihanna and Rocky were both inside the trailer when bullets started going through the windshield.
In court on Tuesday, it was also reported that Rihanna, who is from Florida, had robbed another home in the neighborhood. Two people were on the premises at the time of the shooting.
Rihanna’s mother and three children were all inside the main building at the time of the shooting, along with two staff members, prosecutors said.
After her arrest, Page Six revealed the suspect’s criminal history, revealing that she had previously been arrested for domestic violence for allegedly assaulting her ex-husband.
