Thomas Mazloum has been appointed Chairman of the Disney Experience.
Mazloum will succeed Josh D’Amaro, who will take over the Disney top job from current CEO Bob Iger. In his role, Mr. Mazlum will lead a diverse portfolio of global businesses, including Disney’s theme parks, cruise ships, resort hotels, expeditions and adventure, consumer products, and Walt Disney Imagineering, the creative engine behind Disney’s portfolio of experiences.
“We are in a period of unprecedented growth for the Disney Experience,” D’Amaro said. He added, “This team will continue to promote the world-class experiences Disney is known for to even more guests around the world.”
Prior to joining Disney, Mr. Mazloum worked in the luxury hospitality industry in Europe, gaining extensive experience in luxury hotel food and beverage, guest services, and hotel operations. He then served as Chief Operating Officer of Crystal Cruise Lines, where he was known for driving service excellence, transforming organizational culture, and successfully launching new travel businesses.
His Disney background includes holding senior executive positions at the Walt Disney World Resort before being named President of Disney Signature Experiences. In that role, he developed a long-term strategic growth plan that included doubling the size of Disney Cruise Line’s fleet.
The cruise line, which recently brought Disney Adventure to Singapore, is its eighth ship and its first to homeport in Asia, expanding its business into a new growth market.
Most recently, Mr. Mazloum served as president of the Disneyland Resort, overseeing two theme parks, three hotels and the Downtown Disney District during the resort’s 70th anniversary celebration.
“Thomas Mazloum is an exceptional leader with a genuine appreciation for his cast members and a track record of driving growth,” D’Amaro said. “His focus on outstanding service, broad international leadership, and strong connection to the creativity that brings our stories to life makes him the right leader to lead the Disney Experience into its next chapter.”
In addition to the Muzzroom news, Disney also announced a series of executive changes.
Jill Estrino has been named president of Disneyland Resort. She will lead the resort into its next phase of growth while continuing to foster the culture and community that has defined Disneyland.
Tasia Philippatos has been named president of Disney Parks International, which oversees the growth and evolution of Disney Parks outside the United States. She will oversee the operations, expansion and development of Disney’s international parks, including Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Resort in partnership with Oriental Land Company, and the newest park in Abu Dhabi in partnership with Miral.
Lisa Barzicky has been named president of Disney Consumer Products. She will lead the continued evolution of The Walt Disney Company’s global retail division. The division includes the world’s largest licensing business with a presence across more than 100 product categories and in more than 180 countries.
“Looking to the future, I have the utmost confidence in Thomas and the leaders in these roles, Jill, Tasia, Lisa, and the incredible leadership team across the Disney Experience,” D’Amaro said. “Together, our companies will continue to build on our momentum around the world, delivering the service, creativity and unique experiences that define Disney.”
