This is the crossover that no one knew they needed. ABC’s “The Rookie” will air an episode “prominently” featuring the cast of “Game Changer,” a competition series from indie comedy platform Dropout (formerly CollegeHumor).
The next episode of Season 8 of the Nathan Fillion-led police investigation drama, airing March 2 at 10 p.m., is titled “Fun and Games.”
This episode features the main cast of “The Rookie” Fillion as John Nolan, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Lise Chavez as Celina Juarez, and Derick Augustine as Miles Penn, as well as Dr. Starring Sam Reich, CEO of Dropout and host of “Game Changers,” as well as frequent Dropout collaborator Vic Michaelis (Peacock’s “Ponies”), Jacob Wysocki, Zach Ohyama and Anna Garcia.
According to the official logline for ABC’s crossover episode, which was partially filmed at Dropout’s own studio in Los Angeles, “Harper and Miles feel the weight of their recent mistakes, while Harper is tasked with training Miles. Nolan and Selina are sent on a heist call at the Dropout TV studio, where Nolan encounters a familiar face.”
New episodes of “The Rookie” will be available to stream on Hulu the next day after they air on ABC.
Dropout, the comedy streamer that rebranded from CollegeHumor in 2024, continues to grow in popularity, recently reaching 1 million paid subscribers and expanding its production, development, and marketing teams.
The home of “Game Changers,” “Very Important People,” “Dimension 20” and “Make Some Noise” premiered its first licensed series, British comedy “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared,” ahead of Monday’s announcement of crossover “The Rookie.”
