Dax Shepard gave his wife Kristen Bell a “not-so-exciting Valentine’s Day” this year.
The actor confessed to Armchair Expert listeners on Monday’s “Fact Check” segment that he “definitely ignored” his partner and instead spoiled his daughters.
The “Parenthood” alum, 51, “did everything in her power” for Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11.
“My girls are my valentines. … Everything I had was spent on the little ones,” Sheppard exclaimed, noting that her mother, Laura Labo, was also in town and in dire straits.
“She’s been my Valentine for 51 years, so it really becomes a bandwidth (issue),” he explained.
The actor said the 45-year-old Bell and Labo “watched[him]put a lot of energy into his other two valentines,” including spending “hours” on the grand gesture.
“I knew my daughter loved pool floats, so I bought a heart-shaped float, inflated it, and put it in the pool,” he recalled.
In addition, Shepherd “made them handmade cards that they actually drew and wrote how they felt about it.”
Despite originally only wanting one child, he and Bell welcomed children Lincoln and Delta in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
“We thought it would really help to make her a better person who has to interact with someone else…[and]live in the same room with other people and have to share everything,” Shepard said on the Endless Honeymoon podcast in October 2022.
He and the “Nobody Wants This” star have been dating since 2007 and married in 2013.
Last month, Cher, who co-starred with Bell in the movie Burlesque, disparaged Shepard, agreeing that she “could do better.”
the 79-year-old singer tweeted on a January episode of Shepard and Monica Padman’s podcast.
Ms Bell defended her husband, claiming he was “too good” for her and was causing a “slow burn”.
Shepard wasn’t offended by Cher’s shades, but later told Access Hollywood that she found the Grammy winner’s comments “hysterical.”
