Rebecca Gayheart is reflecting on her life with her husband Eric Dane, two days after he tragically passed away.
The actress posted a series of images to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, showcasing her life with Dane, who died Thursday at the age of 53 after a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and their daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14.
One shot showed the foursome celebrating Dane’s birthday while blowing out the candles on a cake.
Follow-up photos included old shots of Dane smiling as he lay in bed with his daughters, as well as pictures of him going tubing with them and eating ice cream with Gayheart, 54.
Other photos shared showed scenes from Dane, Billy and Georgia’s lives. One snap in particular was of a pregnant Gayheart with Dane in a pumpkin patch with Georgia.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum also posted a link to a GoFundMe set up by a friend.
Gayheart simply wrote, “Thank you everyone.”
The GoFundMe account states that the beloved star leaves behind “his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”
“Despite his own health deteriorating after his diagnosis, he remained committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease,” they continued.
“His illness progressed much faster than anyone expected, so Eric’s friends came together to create this GoFundMe to support his daughters and their future needs.”
Meanwhile, Dane and Gayheart married in 2004, and the “Jawbreaker” star filed for divorce in 2018 after 13 years of marriage.
However, in March last year, the former flames called off their divorce after seven years of separation. A month later, the “Euphoria” actor announced his ALS diagnosis.
Over the past 10 months, Gayheart and Dane have opened up about their “complicated” relationship.
In a Dec. 29 essay for The Cut titled “In Sickness and In Health,” Gayheart said Dane “has made it clear that he wants to spend as much time as possible with his family, and I am committed to facilitating that.”
“I want to do my best to do the right thing by his side, and I know he will do the same for me,” she said.
“So anything I can do, in any way, to make this journey better for him or easier for him, I want to do it,” Gayheart told readers at the time. “And I want to model for my daughters, ‘That’s what you do. That’s the right thing to do.'”
“My daughters and I spent a lot of time this year at Eric’s house, which is about a 12-minute drive from our house,” she recalled. “We eat together a lot. We stop by a lot. We don’t just stop by. We always call and say, “I’m going up the hill,” or “I’m dropping Georgia off.”
In addition, Ms. Gayheart filled in for Mr. Dane as a “24/7 nurse” during “uncovered shifts.”
The “Urban Legends” star also explained that she and Dane “have a very complicated relationship that confuses people. Our love may not be romantic, but it’s a family love.”
Gayheart also revealed that she and Dane “haven’t lived in the same house for eight years.”
She mentioned her 78-year-old billionaire boyfriend, Peter Morton, since filing, saying, “He’s dated other people, (and she’s) dated someone, too.”
In June, Dane opened up about his bond with Gayheart, telling Diane Sawyer, “They talk every day.”
“We became better friends, better parents,” he reflected. “And she’s probably my biggest advocate and most ardent supporter and I rely on her.”
