Room and Normal People director Lenny Abrahamson is gearing up to shoot his next film for Element Pictures, and has tapped Tom Burke and Eve Hewson to star in an as-yet-untitled project set in Dublin’s Jewish community in the late 1970s. Newcomer Sean Meagher also appears.
Abrahamson has reunited with long-time collaborator Element Pictures, and filming is scheduled to begin in Dublin on March 2nd.
Producers are Ed Guiney and Andrew Rowe of Element (a Fremantle company), Katherine McGee (Normal People, Small Things Like These) and Abrahamson.
Behind the camera, Abrahamson will reunite with the creators of both “Normal People” and “Conversations with Friends,” including production designer Anna Rackard, cinematographer Susie Lovell, editor Nathan Nugent, makeup designer Sonia Dolan and composer Stephen Lennix. Also participating are costume designer Aymar Ní Maoldamnai (The Banshees of Inisherin) and hairstylist Orla Carroll (The Banshees of Inisherin).
The film is funded by Film4, High Frequency Entertainment, Screen Ireland and RTÉ. A24 is on board as the U.S. distributor, Elevation Pictures is on board as the Canadian distributor, and FilmNation Entertainment is handling international sales.
Burke was last seen in Steven Soderbergh’s “Black Bag,” and his credits include “Furiosa,” “The Souvenir,” and the TV series “Strike.” Mr. Hewson’s recent credits include John Carney’s film “Flora and Son,” as well as the hit television series “The Perfect Couple” and “Bad Sisters.” She will next star in Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, which opens in June.
Mr. Burke is repped by B-Side, Entertainment 360, WME and Public Eye. Mr. Hewson is repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Narrative & Sloan, Offer, and Weber & Dern.
