ABC has released the first full-length trailer for the revival of the popular medical sitcom “Scrubs.” The trailer shows Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes reprising their iconic characters alongside new and familiar faces at Sacred Heart Medical Center, the series’ main hospital setting.
Created by Bill Lawrence, “Scrubs” first aired on NBC in 2001. The show depicts Braff’s early years as a physician, as Dr. John Dorian (JD), as he navigates doctor-patient relationships, eccentric colleagues, and adolescence in a demanding, absurd, yet rewarding profession.
NBC aired the show for seven seasons before canceling it in 2008. ABC then aired an eighth season in 2009 and renewed it for a ninth season in 2010. The ninth season was originally planned as a spin-off titled Scrubs: Medical School. Faison and McGinley were the only series regulars to return for season 9 before ABC canceled the series.
The revival will feature new cast members including Vanessa Bayer, Joel Kim Booster, Eva Bang, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Leila Mohammadi, and Amanda Morrow. Robert Maschio and Phil Lewis will also return from the cast of the original series.
“Scrubs” veterans Tim Hobart and Aseem Batra serve as executive producers and showrunners on the revival series. Additional executive producers include Braff, Faison, Chalke and Lawrence via Doozer Productions, as well as Randall Winston, Jeff Ingold and Lisa Katzer.
The revival is produced by 20th Television and will premiere on ABC on February 25th at 8pm ET/PT. All episodes will also be streamed on Hulu.
