Kate Madden is following in her mother’s footsteps. Or rather her wings.
The 18-year-old daughter of Nicole Richie and husband Joel Madden posted a photo to Instagram on Monday showing off her famous back tattoo.
Her post included two photos and the caption “🪽”, referring to the angel wings between her shoulder blades.
In the photo, Kate is wearing a gold I.Am.Gia dress ($125). The dress has an open back to maximize the tattoos and features two butterflies imitating angel wings permanently inked on top.
This tattoo seems to be a tribute to his mother, who also has a similar design on her back.
Although Nicole’s wings are a little apart and filled with color, the bond between mother and daughter is deep.
Nicole showed her support on social media by commenting, “♥️♥️♥️” and received multiple 😍 emojis from her followers.
One person wrote: “You got the same tattoo as your mom! ❤️,” while another said: “Omg I’m crazy about you.”
On January 12, Nicole celebrated her daughter’s birthday on Instagram with a slideshow of old photos, writing, “18 years old ♥️🎂 @katemaddennn.”
Fans were surprised by the rarely seen teen’s dramatic entrance into public life. She now sports dark hair and has chosen to go by her middle name rather than her first name, Harlow.
