Horrifying details have been revealed about the ransom note in the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie.
FBI Phoenix Special Agent Heiss Janke shared a memo during a Thursday press conference that set the deadline as February 5th at 5pm (Montana time).
“And if the transfer does not take place, the second request will be next Monday,” he said. “I have no intention of going beyond that.”
Janke stressed that he would not go into details.
“As with any lead, we take this incident seriously. We are in contact with the family,” he added. “While we advise and recommend from a law enforcement perspective, the action on ransom is ultimately determined by the family.”
At the beginning of the press conference, officers noted the ransom note’s mention of an “Apple Watch” and “light projector.”
“It is very important that we continue to move forward with this investigation,” he continued.
Earlier this week, ransom notes demanding millions of dollars in Bitcoin were sent to two separate news outlets, including TMZ.
The letter reportedly contained a threatening message: “Or else.”
The outlet also confirmed that the email address associated with the Bitcoin account is genuine.
Additionally, the FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery or “the arrest and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance.”
The 84-year-old matriarch did not attend church and was reported missing on Sunday.
Police laid out the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance at a press conference, saying she was last seen by a relative Saturday around 9:48 p.m., having been dropped off at her home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona.
At 1:47 a.m. Sunday, her doorbell camera disconnected and detected someone at her front door about 25 minutes later.
Nancy’s pacemaker app disconnected from her phone at 2:28 a.m. Her family checked on her at 11:56 a.m. that morning and found her missing.
Police were called at 12:03 p.m., and patrol units arrived at 12:15 p.m.
Authorities previously told Page Six that they believe Nancy was “removed from her home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night.”
Blood stains were found outside Nancy’s home, and investigators confirmed that they belonged to Nancy.
Officers have not yet identified any suspects, but are “actively investigating all” as persons of interest.
Savannah made an emotional plea for her mother’s safe return in a touching Instagram video on Wednesday, along with her siblings Annie and Camron.
