Nearly 72 hours after Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was first reported missing, authorities remain hopeful that the 84-year-old Guthrie is still alive.
“There’s nothing to do but believe she’s here,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a new interview with NBC’s Liz Kreutz that aired on the Today show Wednesday, Feb. 4. “She’s here now. She’s alive and we want to save her.”
However, authorities frankly say they have no suspects, although they continue to search for Nancy.
“The leads we get are extremely important to us,” Nanos said. “These are valuable and we share them with the FBI and others.”
The FBI is currently involved in the search and is asking anyone with information or leads to call 1-800-CALL-FBI in addition to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office phone number at 520-351-4900.

Authorities believe Nancy was abducted from her home sometime between the time she last saw her daughter, Annie, around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, and the time a friend from church called her family the next day to report that she didn’t show up.

And while it is believed Nancy was abducted, police admitted they don’t know any more details beyond that speculation.
Sheriff Nanos said at a press conference Tuesday that he had “no clue” about the number of potential kidnappers. “It could have been one, it could have been more.”
Officials previously confirmed that what appeared to be blood droplets were seen on the front steps of Nancy’s home in Tucson, Arizona, as well as what appeared to be a Ring camera that had been removed from near the front door.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office has not responded to requests for comment from people regarding the apparent blood stains, and it remains unclear whose blood was found in the home.
Police said Nancy was “cognitively intact” and in poor physical health but “very alert.” Nancy has mobility issues and takes daily medications that are essential to her survival. She hasn’t taken any medication for days now. A 911 call reporting Nancy missing revealed that the mother of three had high blood pressure, a pacemaker and heart problems.
Nancy, along with Savannah and Annie, 54, is also the mother of son Camron.
As the search for her mother continues, Savannah was absent from “Today” and declined to be interviewed by NBC for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics on February 6th.
