Elle Fanning trolls OnlyFans by painting herself green in the teaser trailer for Margo’s Got Money Trouble, Apple TV’s new drama about a young woman forced to consider the financial burden of an unplanned pregnancy and an affair with her creative writing professor. The teaser was released at Apple TV’s 2026 Press Day on February 3rd.
Margo, a community college dropout and aspiring writer, has to come up with creative ways to make ends meet, so she posts alien-themed fetish content on OnlyFans and watches as the tips roll in. The series, which premieres April 15, also stars Michelle Pfeiffer as Margo’s former Hooters waitress mother and Nick Offerman as her former professional wrestler father. Nicole Kidman and Thaddea Graham also star, with Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty, and Lindsey Normington rounding out the cast.
The event’s panel discussion was moderated by Luffy Thorpe, author of the best-selling novel of the same name, and featured showrunner and author David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Big Little Lies). Kelly, who has been married to Pfeiffer for more than 32 years, joked that Pfeiffer’s “yes” to play Margo’s mother was the second-best “yes” she’s ever gotten from Pfeiffer.
Fanning said it was Thorpe’s book that drew her to the role. Margo’s character is “full of energy and optimism” and “she’s doing it her own way.” Fanning, who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar this year for Sentimental Value, said she wanted to portray Margo’s postpartum life as realistically as possible, and she relied on “all the mothers on set” to keep Margo on track.
Offerman, who plays Jinx, who is fresh out of rehab and moves in with Margo and forges a relationship with her daughter for the first time, also said Thorp’s book was “scary.” But it’s a “sublime art” and when he accepted the role, he wondered, “Can I live up to it?”
Kelly will executive produce alongside Fanning, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures. Nicole Kidman and Per Saari from Blossom Films. Matthew Tinker of David E. Kelley Productions. Pfeiffer, Thorpe, Eva Anderson and Boo Killebrew will also executive produce with Dearbhla Walsh directing the pilot. Additional directors include Kate Herron and Alice Seabright.
“Margo’s Got Money Troubles” is produced by A24 for Apple TV. It marks the streamer’s latest collaboration with Kelly, who produced the legal thriller “Presumed Innocent,” based on the 1987 novel. “Presumed Innocent” Season 2 is currently in production.
