SmartLess hosts aren’t afraid to disconnect guests.
On the Jan. 26 episode of The Romesh Ranganathan Show, Will Arnett, who hosts Smartless with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, revealed that the trio “recently” had a “very well-known comedian” appear on their show, but had to cut the interview short due to the comedian’s actions.
Arnett called the unknown comedian a “shithole” and promised to tell host Romesh Ranganathan who he was “after” the cameras were off.
“We cut him off after 10 minutes, said, ‘Thank you very much,’ and left him,” Arnett, 55, said.
“And you’d be surprised who it is,” he said, then joked, “Because you’d be like, ‘How did they get Bill Cosby?'”
Also during the episode, Arnett revealed that another unnamed comedian asked the trio not to “air” the episode she recorded.
“We were like, ‘hehehe, it cost money and members and we all had to do it, blah blah blah,'” Arnett said. “That comedian was worried because he thought he had a promising future. We were like, ‘We’ll be fine.'” And as it turns out, we were right. ”
Arnett’s revelations about the podcast she co-hosts with Bateman, 57, and Hayes, 55, come days after an episode featuring Charli XCX caused an uproar online.
On the Feb. 2 episode of SmartLess, Charlie talked about whether she wanted children in the future, and Bateman suggested that she might change her mind if she met the right person, not knowing that Charlie married her husband George Daniel last July.
When asked if Ms. Bateman wanted more than one child or just one as she was an only child, she replied, “I don’t actually want to have any children.” However, she admitted that her views “could change”.

Things got awkward when Bateman suggested that the singer, like his wife Amanda Anka, might have a change of heart. “(Amanda) didn’t want to have children, so the story continues,” Bateman said. “And then once we started dating, she said, ‘Okay, I think I could have kids with this person.'” Then maybe you’ll find someone. ”
“Well, I’m married,” Charlie replied, and Bateman joked, “I’ll have to read the newspaper sometime.”
“That’s fine,” the singer said. “I was looking forward to it because I knew right away where I was going to go and how I was going to react.”
Bateman joked that Charlie “didn’t finish[him]” and added, “Maybe your next husband will want to have kids with him.”
