What you need to know

Jenna Bush Hager reveals Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, Nancy, is missing essential daily medications. “She needs them to survive,” Bush Hager said of the medication. Nancy was reported missing on Sunday, February 1, and police said the scene at her home was “very disturbing”.

Savannah Guthrie’s longtime friend Jenna Bush Hager is sharing insight after the disappearance of Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

On Monday, February 2nd, the Today show covered the disappearance of Savannah’s mother, noting that she was last seen on Saturday night, January 31st, and was reported missing on Sunday, February 1st.

“We love Nancy. I know her personally,” Bush Hager said on 4 Hours Today with Jenna and Sheinelle. “And we would also like to report that she takes medication every day and needs medication to live. She is off medication so we are thinking of our beloved Savannah and her entire family right now. Our prayers obviously go out to Savannah and her entire family.”

Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones appeared on “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle” on February 2nd.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously told reporters that Nancy had “no cognitive issues” and was “very alert and has a sound mind.” However, Nanos also noted that Nancy is “not feeling well.”

Nanos also said the scene at Nancy’s Arizona home was “very concerning” and that he was leading a homicide team in the investigation in addition to search and rescue operations.

“On behalf of our family, we would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. For now, our focus is on the safe return of our beloved mother. We appreciate the hard work of law enforcement on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900,” Savannah said in a statement to Today.

Shainelle Jones, who filled in for Savannah opposite Craig Melvin for the first two hours of the NBC morning show, also spoke about the missing person’s coverage on Today with Jenna & Shainelle.

“When Craig and I wrote this article, we were the first to report this morning and we released the phone number. You can publish the phone number as many times as you like. I thought to myself, ‘Okay, this is the best time we can be as a community,'” Jones said. “People in this area, in this county, if you’ve seen something, no matter how small it is, if you know anything – and I’ve heard people say that before – this is when people say, ‘You know what, let’s make a call, let’s do what we can.’ So we send prayers, but we also send collective action. If you don’t know anything, call this number. We love you, Savannah.”

Savannah’s mother last appeared on the Today show in November 2025, when Savannah returned to her home in Tuscon, Arizona for a special hometown segment.
