Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, is reported missing from her home in Arizona.
The 84-year-old man was last seen around 9:30 p.m. local time Saturday night at his home in the Catalina Foothills, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
At a press conference Sunday night, Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed search and rescue teams were searching for Nancy by land and air.
He also acknowledged that her family had called 911 earlier in the day to report her missing.
Nanos said officers contacted local hospitals, but no one had reported seeing her in the area.
“We’re just going to throw everything we have at this problem. Guthrie is 84 years old and in poor health, so of course that’s a big concern,” Nanos told reporters, according to Fox News.
The sheriff also confirmed at the press conference that homicide detectives were investigating the scene of the home because it raised “some concerns for us.” At this time they have not ruled out foul play.
“This is very concerning to us. We don’t normally put the sheriff out at a scene like this, but what we’re learning from home is very concerning,” Nanos noted.

“So we’ll just carry on. The detective homicide team is also currently on scene monitoring the scene.”
He said she was of “sound mind” but had physical ailments that limited her mobility. Nancy also does not take the daily medications she needs to survive.
The matriarch is described as 5-foot-5, 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. It is also unknown what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.
On Monday morning’s episode of the Today show, Savannah told her co-hosts in a statement: “On behalf of my family, I want to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, my focus is on the safe return of my beloved mother.”
“We appreciate the efforts of law enforcement in this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Of course, she wasn’t in the studio.
Savannah, 54, has always been open about her close relationship with her mother, who has visited her on set many times over the years.
“She faced life’s unthinkable challenges without self-pity, with determination, and always with unwavering faith,” Savannah said in a eulogy on her mother’s 80th birthday in 2022.
Her father, a journalist, died when she was 16, leaving Nancy a widow at just 46 years old.
