Emily Blunt and John Krasinski turned the Golden Globes red carpet into a date night on Sunday. Blunt arrived wearing an asymmetrical white dress with a cape-like overlay, buttoned up to match her earrings, and a slicked-back updo. Meanwhile, Krasinski wore an all-black suit with thick-framed glasses. The long-time couple, who have become regulars at the awards season, were photographed smiling and cozy together ahead of the ceremony.
Blunt attended an evening celebrating Smashing Machine, director Benny Safdie’s harrowing biopic about pioneering mixed martial arts and UFC fighter Mark Carr. Her performance in this film earned her a nomination for Best Performance by a Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture.
Her reputation reflects a body of work shaped by deliberate and often bold choices. Choosing a wide range of characters and genres was “very, very, very” intentional, Blunt told ELLE in November 2025. “That’s the only thing I can control. Everything else, whether the movie does well or not, whether the experience is great or not, is out of your control.”
In Smashing Machines, Blunt was transformed into Dawn Staples, the girlfriend of Mark Carr, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The role required a physical overhaul, as she wore a fake tan, voluminous wig, push-up bra, long acrylic nails, and snakeskin. “I think my performance should have been sponsored by Wonderbra,” Brandt joked. “It was very new and transformative for me.”
Beyond the physical transformation, the role posed a new challenge for the actress, as it was Blunt’s first time starring in a biopic about people who are still alive. “I’m so grateful for how open Dawn was with me, warts and all,” she said. “To absorb her whole life and love story, no matter how explosive and volatile it was, it was the most unconventional love story, and that seemed very appealing to me.”
