Joe Rogan is the latest industry heavyweight to speak out against Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on Rob Reiner following the director’s tragic death. President Trump claimed that Reiner’s death was “caused by the anger he caused others” by publicly speaking against Trump. Reiner’s son Nick was arrested in connection with his parents’ deaths.
“The Rob Reiner thing is not funny,” Rogan said on a recent podcast featuring comedian Shane Gillis (via Entertainment Weekly). “When you look at it without empathy, that’s when it’s hard to like. Listen, there’s no validity to his actions that would be meaningful in a caring society. It’s no different than the people who were celebrating when Charlie Kirk was shot. It’s the same kind of thing.”
“Imagine someone died like this and then Obama tweeted something about someone, and that person was a psychopath who hated Obama,” Logan continued. “It just shows you how crazy the way Trump thinks and talks. It’s like the guy got cut up by his own kids. You know what? People who don’t get that are like, ‘Fuck you.'”
Rogan said someone should have picked up Trump’s “shit call” about his decision to consider Reiner’s death, adding that he was “very disappointed” by Trump’s comments. “It’s very disappointing. I’m like, why not? … It’s one thing to say something like that in private, and that’s funny, but it’s very disappointing.”
President Trump said of Reiner in a post on Truth Social: “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a suffering, struggling, and once extremely talented film director and comedy star, passed away alongside his wife, Michele. Reportedly due to the anger he caused in others due to a severe, indomitable, and incurable illness known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, a debilitating and mind-numbing illness.” TDS is known for driving people crazy with his rabid obsession with President Donald J. Trump, and as the Trump administration exceeds all goals and expectations of greatness, his apparent paranoia reaches new heights as America’s golden age ushers in. May Rob and Michelle rest in peace, perhaps never before!
Hours later, Trump doubled down on his criticism of Reiner at a press conference when asked about Republicans’ condemnation of Reiner’s initial remarks. He responded, “Well, I was never a fan of his. As far as Trump was concerned, he was a crazy person…I thought he was a very bad person for our country.”
The US president was widely criticized by Hollywood for his comments about Reiner. Josh Gad posted in the thread, “No low is too low for this fucking psychopath. Rob Reiner is 1000 times your man and unlike you, he actually cared about the American people. Paint your hands on gold fucking toilets and destroy the White House and all that. That’s what you do best.”
Jimmy Kimmel called President Trump a “hateful, vile person” for going after Reiner after such a tragic death. “What we need at a time like this, besides common sense on guns and mental health care, is compassion and leadership. We didn’t get that from the president, because he can’t give us anything. Instead, we got some idiot who is rambling on about nonsense.”
Whoopi Goldberg blasted President Trump and all Republicans who are silent on the issue on “The View,” saying, “There’s no justification that he wrote what he wrote. There’s no way to justify that, and all the Republicans who are silent are fucked. Fucked.”
