“You just have to get married. You just haven’t met the right young woman,” Benedict Bridgerton’s mother Violet admonishes him in the trailer for Season 4 of Netflix’s “Bridgerton.”
But he might not agree after meeting the charming Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, who unleashes a captivating romance.
Part 1 of Season 4 of the popular historical drama series will be available on Netflix on January 29th, while Part 2 will premiere on February 26th.
In Season 3, childhood friends Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton finally come together as their friendship turns to love and marriage. But until he encounters the masquerade ball with Sophie, Colin’s younger brother Benedict is more focused on drawing and playing games — “he’s a pitchfork,” as his sisters say in the trailer.
If you’ve read Julia Quinn’s third installment of the Bridgerton series, A Gentleman’s Offer, you’ll recognize key scenes from the book, as this season is said to be one of the most faithful to the series.
Violet’s Joan of Arc costume at the masquerade ball was also inspired by Violet’s look in The Gentleman’s Offer. When Benedict first meets the masked Sophie, he is immediately attracted to her, but then he must uncover the true identity of the Lady in Silver, whom Benedict describes as “the most intriguing person I have ever met.” Also straight out of the book is the famous lake scene where Sophie meets Benedict while swimming.
“With a little imagination, the impossible seems possible,” says the trailer’s narrator, just as Benedict tells Violet, “It’s all well and good to dream, but life is meant to be lived.”
