What you need to know
The famous Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party is truly a family affair.
On a recent episode of Khloe Kardashian’s podcast, Khloe in Wonderland, she and her mother Kris Jenner revealed the inside scoop on the annual holiday party they co-host with Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner. The 70-year-old patriarch admitted that when he started the tradition decades ago, he had no idea it would become such a coveted event.
“The parties were always at my house,” Chris explained. “The first time was in 1978. At that time there were very few people and very few families. And then it just kept getting bigger and bigger.”
“You invite the most random people,” Chloe, 41, interjected. “You’re not going to meet these people. And you’re like, ‘Oh, the nurse who gave me an IV 12 years ago, I remember her. Wanda, let Wanda invite me.'” And you think, “Oh, that’s the person at the pharmacy at CVS.” And we were like, ‘Mom, we need to filter the list.’ ”

Chris joked that he “got scolded a lot” for inviting too many people, but said the parties got bigger as his kids got older and he wanted to bring his own friends as well.
“All of a sudden we had 100 people, and now we’re having hundreds, 200, 300 people for our Christmas parties,” her mother said, explaining that that’s when she decided to have a different family host each year. “I thought it would be more fun.”
Chloe agreed, but confessed that she would like to leave the hosting duties to her brothers. (Kendall, 30, will be the host this year.)
“I don’t take the reins. I don’t need the reins. I don’t want that many people in the house,” Chloe teased, giving credit to her mother. “I was so proud of you for saving me this year because they said Kim’s house is under construction. Same thing with Kourtney’s house. I don’t know what’s going on with Kylie’s house and why that wasn’t an option. I don’t know either.” So you were like, “Let’s put it at Kendall’s house.” I was very happy because everyone felt like it was “Chloe’s house.” Do you think I want someone in my house? No, no, no, I don’t want to party. ”
Chris went on to recall his favorite year. Kourtney, 46, took charge in 2019, when the whole thing was decorated with red roses and trees.
“It was very shocking,” she said. “I’m so excited to see how everyone interprets their own Christmas Eve and how we all enjoy it each year.”

Still, no matter who is assigned to host, the entire family contributes financially. Chloe shared her Pinterest board and explained that they were meeting to decide on a theme.
“Not everyone will participate, and that’s okay,” she joked. “But if you don’t show up, you can’t have a say. You can’t, say, come to a third meeting and say, ‘Oh, I don’t like that.’ No. We’ve already had two meetings so far. X, Y, and Z are decided.”
“And we split the cost of the party equally between all of us,” she revealed.
“Yeah, because it’s going to be really crazy,” Kris added (experts estimate Kim’s 2018 party cost about $1.3 million). “I also think one of the most fun things is being able to share things with your friends. So we always managed to have really great presents for everyone at the end of the party.”
