What you need to know
Kate Hudson has had a whirlwind year.
Two critically acclaimed projects rounded out her 2025. The 46-year-old actress and singer continues to be as busy as ever, with the Netflix comedy series “Running Point” released in February and the musical biopic “Son San Bleu” in theaters on Christmas.
“I’ll say it to myself, personally, I think I’m the busiest I’ve been since my 20s,” the Golden Globe nominee told PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “It’s been a really interesting time.”

Hudson says she has learned how to respect her boundaries in order to maintain a good work-life balance. Is there one rule she doesn’t follow?Reply to emails.
“My new thing is honestly telling people that I hate email,” she admits. “I don’t like that. I don’t want to see 1,000 emails a day. It just ruins my day.”
“So if you send me an email and think I’ll receive or read it, good luck!” Hudson points out. “You should call someone.”
Hudson, a working mother of three, explains that responding to emails is too much work.
“When you’ve got multiple businesses, you’ve got multiple jobs, you’ve got kids, and you’re getting email after email, there’s a kind of expectation that that’s communication,” she says.
“We all need reminders, confirmations, etc. But I don’t like the fact that having email means I have to respond on the weekend.”
“Then you’re like, ‘Wait, I have 500 emails and it’s going to take me two days to actually respond to all of these,'” she continues. “Then you don’t need email.”
She added, “I can’t do it, and neither can my creative brain.”
The Son Son Bleu star is at the center of awards season buzz for her role as Claire Sardina in the new film, which is based on the true story of Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning and Thunder.
Hudson will co-star with Hugh Jackman, 57, as a husband and wife musical duo who formed a cover band in 1989 in honor of the “Sweet Caroline” singer. The film depicts the relationship between Lightning and Thunder turning from a working relationship to a romantic relationship.

“I really hope people see this movie,” Hudson said at the Academy and Chanel Women’s Luncheon on Nov. 4. “Because I really want this film to have the success that I think it deserves and I want people to make more films like this.”
The actress is nominated for Best Motion Picture Actor in a Musical or Comedy at this season’s Golden Globe Awards, which will be held on January 11, 2026.
“Song Song Bleu” will be released in theaters on Christmas Day.
