Daniel Curtis Lee helps former Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide co-star Tyler Chase in his time of need.
Lee, 34, took to Instagram to share an update about Curtis, 36, who is experiencing homelessness in California, days after a video of Curtis went viral on social media. In the video, the two share a meal at a pizza restaurant, and then Lee accompanies Chase to his hotel room, where Lee says he will remain to work with others on a long-term support plan.
The actor then provided an update on Chase’s status following the visit.
“So since my last TikTok video where I visited Tyler, a lot of people have reached out to me to see if I’m still in touch with Tyler,” Lee said in the first Instagram clip he posted. “And, yeah, actually, I just got off the phone with him.”
She added that communicating with Chase was “difficult” because “he might have a phone one day and not the next.”
Lee detailed that he wants to set up a “trust” to which people can donate funds to help Chase get back on his feet, and that he is considering the rehabilitation program that best suits his needs.
In a second Instagram video published on Tuesday, December 23, Lee went on to explain that Chase was able to talk to his father over FaceTime and that several of Chase’s former co-stars were working together to help get Chase admitted to a facility.
“Many of you are worried about Tyler Chase this holiday season, so I wanted to give you an update. Last night, Shaun Weiss and his team put in a lot of effort to get him to the hospital, which I thought went well. His father told me it worked, but apparently he backed out,” Lee explained.
“So last night they couldn’t get him in the car. That’s why they couldn’t take him to the hospital,” Lee explained.
“Yes, it’s the holiday season. It’s raining and we want them to provide at least basic accommodation. He wanted to stay local and this was the only place open and accepting people,” Lee said.

“Okay, thank you,” Chase replied as Lee hugged him inside the hotel room.
“Hug me, brother. I love you, brother. I love you. So good to see you, dude,” Lee said. “You’re the man, brother, and I believe in you, and we’ll win, brother. All we have to do is hang in there and keep working, dude.”
On Monday, Dec. 22, Weiss, who starred in the movie The Mighty Ducks, shared in an Instagram video that she took action after receiving “so many messages” about Chase.
Weiss, 47, said: “I reached out to some friends and they have a detox bed set up and a place for long-term treatment.” Weiss, 47, shared the actor’s apparent whereabouts and called on fans to contact him if they can help.
The actor previously opened up about his past experiences with homelessness and addiction during his sobriety journey. He said on an April episode of Pod Meets World that he benefited from “tremendous support from people” who were invested in his recovery as fans of his acting.
Chase played Martin Query on Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified, which aired for three seasons from 2004 to 2007.
Lee and Chase’s other former co-stars, Devon Werkheiser and Lindsey Shaw, mentioned in a September episode of Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide that videos of their friends “going through something” were “going around on the internet.”
