Colin Gosselin has accused his mother Kate of “terrible” abuse just days after his father John remarried.
Colin recalled his mother’s alleged abusive behavior towards him in a lengthy statement shared to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday.
“I remember when my mother would drop my brothers off at school every day, then put her hands on me and drill hurtful words into my head,” he wrote.
“I remember having to pretend that everything was fine after my brothers got home,” he continued.
Colin, 21, drew attention to the “epidemic of child abuse” and “child exploitation” that is rampant across the United States.
“I will use my voice and my experience to address this epidemic. Keep coming for me, I will keep advocating,” he said.
Colin said his family’s reality show, John & Kate Plus 8, misrepresented their true family relationships.
“I often think about how so many people are still upset that the show they’ve been watching for years, this late at night, told a false story while hiding so many dark secrets,” he said.
“A lot of people have started saying really awful things about me on social media. I have one message for them,” he continued, adding, “No matter how hurtful you say things to me, I will never stop defending scapegoated and abused children. Never, ever.”
John and Kate and their eight children (25-year-old twins Maddie and Carla, 21-year-old sextuplets Colin, Alexis, Hannah, Arden, Leah, and Joel) starred on the TLC series for five seasons from 2007 to 2009.
John and Kate divorced in 2009 after more than 10 years of marriage. Their family drama continued to play out in front of the cameras on the spin-off Kate Plus 8 for six seasons from 2010 to 2017.
Last year, Colin accused his estranged mother of child abuse, alleging that she tied her arms and legs with zip ties and locked her in the basement. Kate denies the accusations. However, Kate’s lawyer, Richard Pureo, said in a statement to the US Sun that he did not believe Kate did anything to “intentionally harm” Colin.
“There are always two sides to any story, and when things happened in the past, it’s hard to tell because people have different memories and perspectives,” the lawyer said in part. “I think she did everything to protect herself and her family from his problematic behavior as a child.”
The lawyer added: “But if Kate had done the things that Colin is accusing her of, she would have been investigated and prosecuted by the authorities.”
Colin has been living with his father since falling out with his mother and attended John and Stephanie Lebo’s wedding this weekend. Colin and his sister Hannah were the only siblings to attend the wedding.
Meanwhile, Madeline, Carla, Arden, Alexis, Leah and Joel remain close to Kate.
Kate’s representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
