What you need to know
Lily-Rose Depp, is it really you?
The 26-year-old actress was recently photographed on the British set of the film Verwolf, wearing a thick wool costume and what appears to be a facial prosthesis. Her head was wrapped in a large garment, making her unrecognizable from her previous roles in last year’s Nosferatu and the 2023 HBO series “The Idol.”
“Werewolf” marks the second consecutive collaboration between Depp and writer/director Robert Eggers, known for producing period-accurate horror and thriller films such as “The Witch,” “The Norseman,” and “The Lighthouse.” The cast of the new film also includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Willem Dafoe, who were photographed on set sporting large beards. Ralph Ineson and Simon McBurney, who co-starred with Depp, Taylor-Johnson and Dafoe in Nosferatu, will also co-star in the film.

The Hollywood Reporter, citing sources, said the film is set in 13th century England. THR also reported that Verwolf’s script “includes period-accurate dialogue, translated and annotated for beginners of Old English.”
Deadline reported in July that she has several other films in development in addition to Werewolf, including one titled Alpha Gang, in which she will co-star with Chris Pine, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Cate Blanchett, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista and Riley Keough.

Deadline also reported in May that Depp would co-star with Jacob Elordi in an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s 1968 novel Outer Dark, which the actor described as a “dark fairy tale.”
Werwolf is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 25, 2026.
