Meghan Markle’s spokesperson has canceled a Page Six report that claimed the Duchess was photographed in a dress for a variety magazine photoshoot without her consent. Fans pointed out that the green dress Meghan wore in the “With Love” holiday feature looked similar to Galvan’s dress in the magazine feature. Meghan’s representatives, who rarely comment on stories, said in a statement: “Any insinuation that any item was photographed without the full knowledge and consent of on-set stylists or their respective teams is not only categorically false, but also highly defamatory.”
Meghan Markle’s spokesperson issued an unusual public statement debunking a Page Six report that claimed the Duchess of Sussex “took a $1,700 fashion shoot dress to the Royal Archives.”
“Any insinuation that items were taken without the full knowledge and consent of the stylists and their respective teams on set is not only completely false, but also highly defamatory,” a rep told People. “All stored items were stored with full transparency and in accordance with contractual arrangements.”
Meghan turned heads with the emerald dress she wore in the poster for the With Love holiday special, which was similar to the $1,695 Garvane dress she wore in a 2022 Variety shoot.
A fashion source who claims Meghan received the dress told Page Six: “It’s not unusual for a talent to ask you to keep or buy something they liked from a shoot. If the designer can’t keep it or samples need to be returned, a discount will usually be offered.”
Another source disputed this account, telling the outlet, “There was likely a misunderstanding. As a royal, she had to archive all her appearances. It was known that if items were removed, they might not be returned.”
This isn’t the first time Meghan’s representatives have silenced false stories about her or her family. Earlier this year, a spokesperson for the couple debunked claims that the couple had enrolled their son Archie at Eton, an all-boys boarding school in England.
“We can confirm that Prince Harry has not left Archie’s name at Eton and that the Duke has no plans to send his son there,” a rep told E!
