Amazon Prime Video’s “Barbershop” TV series is expanding its cast.
Variety reports that Punky Johnson (SNL, Bottoms), Brett Gray (On My Block, Star Trek: The Prodigy), Roy Wood Jr. (The Daily Show, Fletch), and E.J. Bonilla (The Old Man, Gemini Man) are regulars on the comedy show.
Exact character details are being kept secret, but Gray will play Kofi, Johnson will play Stella, Wood will play Robert, and Bonilla will play Fernan. The new cast members will co-star with series star Jermaine Fowler. As previously reported, the show will continue the story of the Barbershop movie series.

According to the official logline, the show follows Travis “Trav” Porter (Fowler) as he “seeks to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, a legendary barber at Chicago’s iconic barbershop Calvin’s Barber Shop. Although the barbers are new, the shop is still lively, the customers are still as conversational, and Fade is still the dopest in town, because at Calvin’s the community comes together for more than just haircuts.
Marshall Todd, co-writer of the original film, is writing, executive producing, and co-screening the series. Max Searle will also serve as executive producer and co-showrunner. Kevin Hart, Brian Smiley and Mike Stein will serve as executive producers through Heartbeat Productions, with Bradley Gardner and Cameron Burnett and Autumn Bailey-Ford serving as executive producers for Prominent Productions. State Street Pictures will also serve as executive producer. Tiffany Brown will serve as co-executive producer of Heartbeat. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
