Fandango has raised more than $2.5 million from moviegoers who choose to round their ticket purchases to the nearest whole dollar to support community-driven charities. This feature is called Round Up and launched in January 2025.
Donations are used to fund Boys & Girls Clubs of America programs and create movie experiences and screening events that benefit club members across the country.
Fandango has announced the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures as its new season partner. Funds raised through the Roundup support the Academy Museum’s mission to “advance the understanding, celebration, and preservation of film.” The partnership will support exhibitions, film programming such as Family Matinee, educational efforts such as the Teen Council, which aims to inspire young artists and pave the way for diverse communities to engage with film, and preservation efforts for the Academy Collection.
“We are extremely proud that Fandango users raised more than $2.5 million in the first year of BGCA’s Roundup program to excite and inspire the next generation of movie fans,” said Will McIntosh, President of Digital Platforms and Ventures at Versant. “Improving film accessibility is central to our mission, so we’re excited to partner with the Academy Museum of the Motion Picture Museum to further our efforts in film preservation and education through multiple programs, exhibits, and opportunities. Together, we’re developing tomorrow’s film fans and tomorrow’s filmmakers, and our users play a direct role in making that possible.”
“We deeply appreciate Fandango’s commitment to supporting the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and our mission to preserve and celebrate the history of film,” said Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homma. “Their vital support will have a meaningful impact in advancing the museum’s mission and providing access to the global film community.”
After the seasonal partnership ends in March 2026, Fandango’s Round Up feature will return to supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Fandango said it will continue to welcome new philanthropic seasonal partners whose mission is to advance accessibility, education and community enrichment in the arts.
The Round Up feature is available on Fandango’s website and mobile app.
