In a video circulating on social media, the five-time Grammy winner, 54, is seen allegedly pausing a concert to address a fan who was seated directly in front of her at a recent show, giving the singer a heated look.
“Stop it, stop it,” Badu tells the band in the clip. “I won’t do anything until these people stand up.”

According to text written above the video, Badu was performing his 1997 hit “Tirone” when he noticed an unenthusiastic guest.
Despite her outspoken request, the crowd began to cheer even louder as they witnessed Badu make her voice heard.
She smiled at the applause and waited a few seconds before zeroing in on someone who was blocked from the camera’s view.
“You’re especially upset. Where is she?” Badu asked the audience, pointing to where the person was sitting.
“She left? Great. Here she is in the front row with her arms crossed trying to hook me all the time,” the “On and On” singer continued to tell the crowd, acting out the actions each person was alleged to have done.
Laughter could be heard from the audience as she explained her version of events.
“Did you pay to do that? Thank you,” Badu said with a laugh.
With perfect timing, the band joined in, and without hesitation, she began singing “Tyrone” again.
“And every time I come, I have to take Jim, James, Paul, and Tyrone with me,” she sang.

“I agree a billion percent with Erika on her stance of shutting down her show and calling people out like that. Man, the next party I throw will need a mandatory ‘everybody dance’ clause to invite you. What do you have to lose by just shaking a leg or two when everything is free?” one person commented under the X post.

Another raved about how effortlessly the “Bag Lady” singer was able to switch gears, writing, “Smooth return to music,” along with a laughing emoji.
Badu is currently on his Mama’s Gun Tour, playing throughout the United States until December 10th, with his final performance in Dallas, Texas.
