Duchess Kate may be preparing for another tiara moment, and it could happen soon.
The 43-year-old Princess of Wales has worn a tiara twice so far this year, and Buckingham Palace has previously hinted at when the next occasion she will need the royal accessory will be.
In October, the Palace announced that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier had accepted King Charles’ invitation for a state visit to Britain from Wednesday 3 December to Friday 5 December.
State visits are an important way for the British royal family to maintain relationships with foreign representatives, and the first day of a state visit usually concludes with a state banquet, where the tiara is the traditional costume for royal women.

As the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince William and Princess Kate almost always attend these diplomatic dinners (and even help organize the trips).

The British royal family is famous for their collection of tiaras, but royal women don’t often wear tiaras. They usually only wear head toppers for weddings and the most formal events.
Princess Kate wore Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara, the most frequently worn tiara in rotation, for two tiara wears earlier this year. The Princess of Wales sported the historic headpiece at a French state dinner at Windsor Castle in July, and wore it again at a state dinner there in September to commemorate US President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK.
