Ariana Grande changed her hair from blonde to brunette this year. Ariana went blonde for her role as Galinda in Wicked, but she explained why the change didn’t last.
Ariana Grande said in a new interview that her recent hair change may not last. For her role as Galinda, or Glinda the Good Witch, in Wicked and Wicked: For Good, Grande went blonde. However, during this fall’s press tour, she started dying her hair brown again.
“I’m still adjusting. I’m still adjusting my hair,” she said in a Nov. 17 conversation with Cynthia Erivo and Sally. “The toner breaks out. Every time I wash my hair, I don’t want my hair to turn brunette. I’m not method, but my hair is method.”

“I’m telling you, once I washed my hair, I woke up in the morning with highlights in it. I woke up again and it was blonde. My hair doesn’t want that. It’s not ready yet. My hair is rejecting toner. I’m not kidding, it’s rejecting it.”
Grande wore blonde hair during the press tour for the 2024 release of Wicked, which she told Entertainment Tonight was a deliberate choice.
“For the first (Wicked) press tour, we wanted to celebrate Glinda in a more witty way and be an extension of her and extend our time with her through the clothes and the blonde and everything,” Grande explained. “Now I can come out as the actress who played her and play with the darker tones of the movie. It’s fun to play with hair, makeup and fashion.”
At the last Wicked premiere this month, Grande wore a Schiaparelli dress with a black corset top and tulle white skirt, her brunette hair held back with a ribbon and a short fringe on her forehead.
