Tiffany Haddish talks about Girls’ Trip 2.
While attending PEOPLE and InStyle’s Drive-By F1 Party in Las Vegas on Friday, Nov. 21, the Bad Boys: Ride or Die star teased what fans can expect from the long-awaited sequel to the 2017 film, which also stars Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett Smith. She also revealed that the ladies are headed to another fun place.
“I don’t know exactly where we’re going, but I know it’s going to be somewhere exotic and somewhere I don’t normally go, but we should go whenever possible,” Haddish, 45, tells PEOPLE.
“That’s what I know,” she added. “We plan to start filming this summer.”

Co-writer Tracy Oliver confirmed to Variety at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2023 that the characters from Girls Trip 2 will appear at Ghana’s annual Afrochella music festival.
At the time, Haddish’s co-star Hall opened up to People about her reaction when she found out where the sequel would be filmed, revealing that she “found out in real time with everyone else” that she was flying to Ghana.
“So I think it’s fun,” Hall, 54, said. “I’m excited to see them again and create something our fans will love.”
“I think the biggest thing was that we had so much fun making the first one,” she added. “And I’m just looking forward to having that kind of fun again, and hopefully the audience loves it too.”
Hall also discussed why the sequel to the blockbuster film, about college friends who travel to New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival and try to reconnect years after graduation, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and other factors.
The horror movie star said the sequel was initially delayed because the cast and crew were “busy.” She added, “So when you set your time, when you think, ‘Oh, I can do this now,’ the pandemic comes along. And then you’re like, ‘Well, we’ll have to wait.'” ”

Regarding the complexities of filming during COVID-19, the actress said, “You can’t shoot an interactive movie in the middle of a pandemic. It’s important to get out and walk around. So I think that changed things as well.”

Girls Trip producer Will Packer also previously teased the sequel, sharing that the film was “in the works” during an appearance on Good Morning America in January 2022.
“Can we all take advantage of post-pandemic travel? I think this is the right time. This is something I’m going to talk about on GMA right now and break down. A sequel to Girls Trip 2 is in the works,” Packer said on the air at the time.
