Netflix has renewed its partnership with the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which will be held in Goa from November 20 to 28, with an extensive presence at the festival’s showcase, including the WAVES Film Bazaar program and premiere screenings.
As part of this, Netflix will co-host IFFI’s market component consisting of the Knowledge Series, Tech Pavilion, WAVES Film Bazaar, and a story pitching initiative to champion emerging voices in Indian entertainment.
As co-host of WAVES Film Bazaar, Netflix will conduct a three-day pitch forum where selected filmmakers and writers will present their projects directly to the streamer’s content team. This initiative is positioned as a pipeline for India’s budding storytellers, offering a potential path of development. This initiative provides emerging talent with direct access to decision makers and opportunities to develop their potential.
Netflix is also showcasing several festival premieres in its International Showcase section, starting with Taiwan’s Oscar nominee “Left-Handed Girl,” directed by Shi Ching Tsou and co-written with Sean Baker.
India’s title gala will conclude with the Hindi film ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murder Case’ which will be released on November 27th. The sequel to Honey Trehan, helmed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte, expands the crime thriller series and continues the story of Inspector Jatil Yadav.
At the festival’s closing ceremony on November 28, Netflix will screen an exclusive preview of Season 2 of the Hindi series Mamla Legal Hai, starring Ravi Kishen.
This year’s Tech Pavilion will focus on Netflix’s accessibility features with demonstrations for attendees to experience. A separate booth during the festival will showcase the Kids and Family slate of parental controls and platforms to encourage safe and informed viewing for young viewers.
