Paulina Porizkova is providing a reality check to all the “ready to go” videos that flood her Instagram feed.
The 60-year-old model posted a candid video of herself preparing for a work-from-home day on the social media platform, making a statement about body positivity and self-acceptance.
“I find it very comforting to see videos of women getting dressed for the day,” she admitted, adding, “So this is my contribution.”
As she takes off her bathrobe and begins putting on her daily layers, she says, “This is my bathrobe from five years ago, my Victoria’s Secret underwear from four years ago, my Third Love bra (which is amazing, by the way), and this is the scar on my lower back from lateral hip replacement surgery.”
Porizkova continues to get ready, wearing Rag & Bone sweatpants jeans (“At home that day, my outfit should have an elastic waistband”), a squirrel-print sweatshirt, comfy shearling slippers, and contact lenses (“This is what I have to do as a nearly blind person”).
She finished her look by pinching her cheeks, explaining, “My only makeup is a pinch of color.”
In the caption of the post, the model wrote, “If you’re like me, you focus on the shape of my body and, hopefully, feel at ease and think, ‘Oh, she’s not perfect either,'” she wrote, adding, “And take a moment to rest, wrap your arms around your imperfect selves, and give them some love, because our imperfections are what make us perfect originals.”
The Polish model, who started her career in the 1980s, didn’t set out to be the face of body positivity without Photoshop, but she’s excited to take on the role.
“I didn’t know you could filter yourself!” admitted Porizkova, who joined Page Six Style a few years ago. “If I had known, I probably would have thought… ‘Look how great I am!'” But I had no clue. ”
“The more I posted reality and the real me, the more people responded to it,” she added.
When it comes to her frequently trending “ready to go” videos, Porizkova offers a refreshing contrast to overly filtered influencer videos featuring brand new looks worth thousands of dollars.
“It’s one of those little buttons that says ‘unfollow,'” she told Page Six Style about her opponents. “good bye!”
