Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater avoided being photographed as a twosome during the press tour for Wicked: For Good. Sources told TMZ that the reason is not related to their breakup, as the two are still dating. The two have been quietly cheering each other on while posting about the movie on social media.
Last night, the cast of Wicked: For Good attended the final premiere in New York City. Co-stars and off-screen couple Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater posed with their castmates on the red carpet, but avoided being photographed alone. They’ve maintained this distance throughout the premiere of Wicked, but as TMZ reported last week, it’s not because they’ve broken up.
On November 11, multiple sources close to the couple told the outlet that Grande and Slater are still dating, but are trying to keep their relationship out of the spotlight. Those involved “strongly insist that they are just private citizens and that they want the focus to be on the film and not on their personal lives,” the newspaper wrote.
Grande avoided mentioning Slater in any interviews. However, in a recent profile in the New York Times, she mentioned how her personal life has been in the spotlight because of her fame. “Nothing prepares you for what that entails (being famous),” she said. “Until recently, it was really hard for me to navigate. And I think it took a lot of the joy out of me.”
Grande and Slater paid a little homage to their partnership by sharing the same photo of them together at the UK premiere on Instagram. This shot was hidden in a large photo gallery from his time in London.
The two also liked each other’s latest Instagram, and Slater showed support for Grande’s New York photo dump within two hours of posting it.
The couple has been together for over two years at this point, but has kept most of their relationship private.
