Nikki Glazer came under fire for mocking sex trafficking and pedophilia in her opening monologue on “Saturday Night Live.”
The stand-up comedian began a nearly nine-minute skit on the NBC network, welcoming everyone to New York City, which he dubbed convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s “original island.”
Later, while discussing nail salon workers and human trafficking warning signs in bathrooms, she jokingly admitted that she’s “been obsessed with slavery lately.”
“I can go to the nail salon with my friends, but we’ll get separated at the border,” said Glaser, 41. “They won’t let you sit next to them, it’s very anti-social.
“You just sit there and watch ‘Beat Bobby Flay’ on mute. You can’t talk to a woman who’s doing her nails because…slavery? I don’t know! She seems stuck and sad.”
She added, also referring to the women’s restroom. “Every time you go to a public women’s restroom and sit in a stall, there’s a poster behind the stall asking if you’re being trafficked.”
Glaser continued: “They’re in every stall. They’re spoken in all the languages of the world. English is really small and like, ‘What you want.'”
The TV personality explained that the sign was not in the men’s room, saying, “There’s a sign that says, ‘Do you want a slave? Text 69-69.'”
She also said that while Gen Z has a “huge fear” of becoming victims of human trafficking, in her 20s she was “afraid of good old-fashioned rape.”
“I never thought it would be a career,” Glaser said. “We never thought it would be anything more than a ‘temp job’ on the futon in our apartment.”
Additionally, she compared herself to Epstein’s ex-girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, and said that her young friends believed she had a “resting Ghislaine face” and that the traffickers felt comfortable having a night out with her because they thought she was a “madame.”
Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges at the Manhattan Correctional Center in New York City.
Meanwhile, Maxwell was convicted of child sex trafficking in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Elsewhere in her monologue, Glaser joked that she felt uncomfortable when her 4-year-old nephew asked to take a shower with her, something her sister confirmed.
“‘Maybe it would be okay for you to come and supervise,'” Glaser recalled telling her sister. “‘What if I sexually abuse him?’ She was like, ‘You would?!’ I was like, “No way!” never. I don’t like that! But if I do, I’d say so. (Child abusers) lie. Don’t trust anyone! I don’t even trust myself. ”
Several critics were quick to slam Glaser via X, with one critic writing, “Is #NikkiGlaser really that crazy in 2025?”
“Nicki has always been hilarious and edgy, but this wasn’t the right audience. This would probably work well as a Netflix special, but not for ‘SNL,'” added another.
“Pedophile joke. Believe these people when they say it. Stay classy, ’SNL,'” a third agreed, while a fourth agreed: “This was disgusting. I don’t know how this got to the people who work there. Do better/:.”
“I’ve always really liked Glaser and he’s a super dark humor guy, but he never joked about your nephew on his bingo card,” another concerned netizen tweeted.
But others came to Glaser’s defense, claiming she “made sure to look out for resources when you’re being trafficked” and “talked about how easy it is for a family member to (sexually assault) someone.”
Representatives for Glazer and NBC did not immediately respond to Page Six for comment.
