Timothée Chalamet isn’t afraid to take chances with his wardrobe, even if his team is against it.
In Vogue magazine’s new December cover story, published Thursday, Nov. 6, the 29-year-old Oscar-nominated actor reflected on a time early in his career when people told him he’d be making a big mistake if he wore an outfit of his choice to his first major film premiere.
It was 2017, and Luca Guadagnino’s film Call Me by Your Name was about to be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival.

French fashion designer Haider Ackermann happened to pass by Chalamet, but the Complete Unknown star couldn’t help but notice that Ackermann was wearing a pink Berluti trench coat.
Chalamet recalled that Ackerman “saw him wearing this big raincoat and thought, ‘Oh, boom, that’s what I’m wearing.'” ”
His publicist completely disagreed.
“I was like, ‘I’m not going to get off the ground again!'” the Interstellar star recalled being told. “‘You’re going to mess up what you’re doing before you leave.'”
Despite what his spokesperson said, Chalamet insisted: “I had to wear a pink jacket,” he said.

Chalamet ended up attending the Berlin Film Festival in February 2017 wearing a pink Berluti trench coat over a black suit, paired with a black sweater and black leather boots.
He also said there is now a new spokesperson.
The Wonka star also remains friends with Tom Ford’s creative director Ackermann.
In May, Chalamet’s girlfriend Kylie Jenner, with Ackerman’s help, helped prepare for the 70th David di Donatello Awards in Rome, and watched over FaceTime as the cosmetics mogul, 28, used a lint roller on Chalamet.
“Teamwork – Mr. K, you’ve been hired!!” Ackerman wrote in the caption of an Instagram post, along with a screenshot of the sweet moment. He later called Chalamet “brother.”

The awards ceremony in Rome marked the first time he and Jenner appeared on the red carpet as a couple since they first started dating in April 2023.
In an interview with Vogue on Thursday, the Marty Supreme star said fatherhood could be in his future.
He told the outlet that the idea of having children “might be on the radar” in the future, and said the idea came after hearing childless celebrities “bragging about not having kids and how much time it has freed up for other things.”

After the anonymous friend’s comment, Chalamet and his friend turned to each other and realized, “Oh my god. (It’s) dark.”
The actor also praised Dune director Denis Villeneuve for juggling family life with a busy career, noting that “Zendaya is engaged” and “Anya[Taylor-Joy]is married.”
“You don’t have to be selfish to be great, no. And I know that because I’ve worked with directors who are incredibly great and incredibly present in their family lives,” he said.
