Candace Cameron Bure has spoken candidly about the “real valley of conflict” she and husband Valerie Bure have experienced throughout their 29-year marriage.
The “Full House” alum told Us Weekly in an interview published Wednesday that her relationship with the former hockey star wasn’t always “incredible” and “great.”
“There were times when I was deeply devastated,” she said, but there was nothing she and Valerie could do to “bounce back.”
Candace believed that her faith in God was the reason behind her and Valerie’s repaired relationship, stating, “But God is in the business of repair…(God) loves to repair and make all things new, and He certainly does.”
The actress did not elaborate on her and the retired athlete’s struggles, but explained that they have “always” struggled with “balancing work and family life.”
“I think so many women experience that,” she said.
However, Candice admitted that there are still days when she “struggles with heartbreak.”
“I went through that too,” she continued. “I mean, everyone feels that way. I don’t know if that’s how I feel every day, but there have been seasons in my life like that.”
The “Fuller House” alum’s vulnerable interview was conducted while promoting her 30-day devotional “Rise and Renew,” which is scheduled for release on Nov. 11.
Candice and Valeri married in June 1996 and are the parents of three children: 27-year-old Natasha, 25-year-old Lev, and 23-year-old Maksim.
In July, Candiace opened up on her eponymous podcast about the “really, really tough season” they went through in 2020 and how she and Valerie weren’t sure if their marriage “would work.”
At the time, the author explained that their perception changed only after their son Lev, who married his wife Elliott Dunham in January 2024, delivered a “45-minute sermon on marriage.”
“(He) had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it,” she said.
“He said, ‘I know I’m not married. I’m a young kid, so it’s probably hard to accept marriage advice from someone so young and inexperienced. But you don’t have to be married to know what God’s Word is saying.'”
Candice said the meeting was “vital” to their marriage and agreed that she and Valerie “raised pretty good kids.”
