Jessica Simpson takes revenge on a botched plastic surgery and cheating ex on Hulu’s “All’s Fair.”
The fashion designer returns to acting in Ryan Murphy’s latest drama, playing a love story that appears to be inspired by the romance between Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson.
“We’ve been married for almost three years. I knew he cheated once, but probably more. So when he asked me to get plastic surgery, I couldn’t say no,” Simpson, 45, said in the episode that premiered Tuesday.
Her surgery’s failure was then revealed on screen as she explained: “My marriage was on the line.”
In flashbacks, viewers saw Simpson’s character fall in love with a musician at a rock concert. The fictional couple then had a heated physical relationship, after which the rock star told Simpson that she needed plastic surgery when she turned 40. Although she failed in the process, she later won a major legal battle.
Later in the episode, Simpson’s character takes revenge by dousing his ex with sulfuric acid after she catches him on a date with a younger girl.
Simpson, 45, previously teased his dramatic transformation for the series in May, telling Entertainment Tonight that he received an “eight-hour prosthetic leg” for the “very intense” role, according to Deadline.
Simpson was introduced in the series as a new client of the all-female law firm run by Alura Grant (Kim Kardashian), Emerald Green (Niecy Nash), Dina Standish (Glenn Close), Liberty Ronson (Naomi Watts), and Milan (Teyana Taylor).
According to the series’ official synopsis, “All’s Fair” follows “a team of female divorce lawyers who leave their male-dominated firms to open their own high-powered law firm.”
The episode comes as Simpson is getting over her breakup with estranged husband Eric Johnson after 10 years of marriage.
The Dukes of Hazzard actress announced her separation from Johnson in January, revealing that she and the former football player were “going through a rough patch” in their relationship.
“Our children come first and we care about what’s best for them. We appreciate all the love and support we have received and value our privacy at this time as we work through this situation as a family,” she said in a statement to People magazine.
Amid the aftermath of the marriage, Simpson also announced that he would be returning to music after a 15-year hiatus.
In January, sources told Page Six that the singer was turning the heartbreak into motivation by working on new studio projects.
“Jessica has been working on new music for a while, but with everything going on right now, she feels it’s the perfect time to go all-in,” a source told Us at the time.
“She kept a diary all the time, and some of her posts evolved into songs about heartbreak and resilience. It was a heartbreaking but very creative time for her.”
Simpson released “Nashville Canyon, Part 1” in March and “Nashville Canyon, Part 2” in September.
