What you need to know
Kim Kardashian is marking one year since the death of her childhood best friend, Lindsay May Palefsky.
The SKIMS founder, 45, posted a heartwarming tribute on Instagram on Monday, November 3rd, on the first anniversary of Palevski’s death. The post began with an old photo and a touching message from a group of friends that Kardashian has long referred to as her “life pals.”
“A year without you,” Kardashian wrote in the caption. “On November 2nd, the world stopped. And I know a piece of life left with you. Time feels strange without you here. We all see you in the purple skies and butterflies. I love you forever, my life. 💜🦋”
Other items on the merry-go-round included a close-up photo of a bracelet with the word “best friend” engraved on it, two photos of Kardashian and Palevski as adults, a tender snapshot of Palevski holding two puppies, and an image of purple flowers at a cemetery.
Mr. Palevsky passed away from a rare form of cancer on November 2, 2024, 13 years after he was first diagnosed with the disease. In July, eight months after her death, Kardashian honored her with a loving tribute on Instagram.
“It just happened to be your birthday. I know you didn’t want to make a big deal about it, but Happy Birthday Linz💜🦋,” the reality star captioned a series of photos.
“I waited months to post this, mainly because I couldn’t find the right words,” she continued. “Nothing can accurately express how quiet and empty our living chat feels without you. You’ll probably roll your eyes at me posting something — especially since I didn’t even really have social media — but I couldn’t spend this lake trip without feeling you everywhere, and I had to share it.”

The annual holiday often falls on Palevski’s birthday, and Kardashian also shared that she filmed her late friend blowing out the candles on her cake.
“The lake was your happy place. It made you feel lighter and healthier…you were you,” Kardashian wrote at the time. “It’s always been our favorite Living tradition because it’s where we spend time with all of our kids and real time with each other without any outside noise. We felt your absence this year, in every sunset, in every laugh, in every quiet moment.”

She went on to say that some of the photos in the post were taken during their 2023 trip, adding, “I’m so grateful for all the memories we made. Linz, I miss you so much. Our world won’t be the same without you. Maybe that’s why I hold on to this lake tradition so tightly. We’ll always have the lake, and we’ll always have a piece of you in it.”
Palevski made several appearances on Keeping Up with the Kardashians as part of the mogul’s “Liver” group. In 2023, she appeared in an episode documenting Kardashian’s 43rd birthday dinner.
Shortly after her death, Citizens of Humanity created a line of jeans called “Linz” in Palevski’s memory. A portion of the proceeds were donated to the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation.
