FX comedy “Adult” has been renewed for a second season.
The ensemble series originally debuted on FX in May, with season 2 set to air in 2026. The series stars Malik Elassar, Lucy Frayer, Jack Inanen, Amita Rao, and Owen Seale, with creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw.
“Ben and Rebecca are incredibly talented writers who deftly and hilariously capture the experience of young adults in today’s world,” said Kate Lambert, executive vice president of development at FX Entertainment. “The entire cast – Malik, Lucy, Jack, Amita and Owen – were exceptionally talented in bringing this production to life in a way that truly connected with the audience.”
The cast of the series also shared news of the renewal in a video announcement. You can see its contents below.
The series’ official logline states that the show “follows a group of twenty-somethings in New York who try to become good people, even though they are not yet ‘good’ or ‘human’. Samir (Elassar), Billy (Fryer), Paul Baker (Inanen), Issa (Rao), and Anton (Thiele) are five friends who spend time together in Sameer’s childhood home, where they share meals, share their fears, and occasionally brush their teeth.”
In addition to writing and producing the series, Kronengold and Shaw also serve as executive producers on Adult. Nick Kroll, Sara Naftalis, Jonathan Krisel and Rob Rossell also serve as executive producers. FX Productions is the studio.
Kronengold and Shaw served as writers on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” for two years, making them the youngest writers in the show’s history. Additionally, in November 2023, he published a book of comedy short stories, Naked in the Rideshare: Stories of Gross Micalculations, with HarperCollins.
